Collectible Memorabilia

What exactly makes collectible memorabilia such a fascination? For many it is either a way to have a piece of the past or a symbol of a favorite celebrity. Just the fact that a treasured person or event is related to an item gives the collector value. Collectible memorabilia comes in all different shapes, sizes and prices. It can be for sports, entertainment, history or even political.

Maybe it all begins to truly emerge to the surface when a Honus Wagner baseball card sold for over $2 million dollars. Two million for a piece of baseball history? Someone could own a whole city of homes for that price. Why pay that much for one simple symbol of sports memorabilia?

Certainly collecting sports memorabilia is an investment and a hobby. If you love a sport, why not collect some of its most treasured items. For some, it may just be the baseball signed by a local pitcher, only valuable to the person who holds it. For others it may be the heritage football signed by some of the first stars in history, certainly an item worth a pretty penny!

Sports are not the only memorabilia on the collectors market. Anything that strikes up warm thoughts or significant memories can fall in this category.
