My parents have a collection of very old books which they would like to redeem for any applicable value. Among them is an original copy of "Westward Ho" by author Charles Kingsley, illustrated by G.C. Hindley. The inside front cover bears the authentic autograph of the author and is dated 1856. Would you have an approximate value for this book? Thank you.

RC - There are a lot of things that determine the vale of an antique or rare book. Things like condition, rarity, or provenance will sometimes make huge differences. I can't find an auction price for this book, and even if I could it may not apply to your volume because of condition etc. It would be best if you take it to a local appraiser for the most accurate evaluation.
