-- Contributed by: Marye AudetI have a "Schmacatenberg Ivory inlaid with a carving of a windmill straight razor, does it have any value?
-- Contributed by: Marlene CrytzerSteve, that is more than likely from the 1930s - 40s, but without knowing more I can't say. The value will depend on the condition..but probably less than $10.00. You should have it checked by a local appraiser.
-- Contributed by: Marye AudetDear sirs I was tearing an old ceiling down in this old building downtown when something fell and hit my hard hat it was an old razor but I don,t know how old it is can you help me.Its a GEM MICROMATIC.It still had a blade in it also. The blade says GEM REVERSIBLE made in the USA. If you twist the bottom of the handle it opens slowly.I,d sure appreciate some help on this matter if possible thank you so much Steve
-- Contributed by: steve smithNicole, it will depend on a number of things. The value is determined by the manufacturer, the collectibility, the condition, the provenance, and the desirability. You should take it to a local appraiser to find out more. Good luck.
-- Contributed by: Marye AudetI HAVE A RAZOR FROM 1912 THE ENTIRE KIT. NO RUST MINT CONDITION. ANY IDEA ITS VALUE?
-- Contributed by: NICOLESteve,I am unsure of what you are describing. It would be best for you to take it to an antique dealer locally to get an estimate on the value of your strop.
-- Contributed by: Marye AudetHi I have a safety blade sharpener that is mechanical it is a be-be strop you turn a little handle and it rotates the blade and two leather strops away from the blade as well as sliding the blade up and down along the blade. can someone tell me how old it is? I can not find any info on the web about it. Rgd,s Steve
-- Contributed by: steve denholmEd I cant find anything on it either. My guess, and it is only a guess, is that is was a promotional item. I suggest that you take it to a local antiques dealer or appraiser to see what they know. Good luck!

It is hard to say what they might go for at auction. We cannot give appraisals here, however recent sales for similar blades on eBay were priced at $20 and less. I hope this helps.-- Contributed by: Marye Audet
I would like to know if a Gillette Blue Blade with the picture of MR King C Gillette is worth something. It was never used still in the small envelop.
-- Contributed by: Jean Paul QuennevilleYou have an Adjustable Gillette Safety Razor. You did not say whether or not there was a date code on it, the date code would look like: S-1-1972, or similar to that, the last four numbers being the date. Without a date code it could be as early as the 1920s or as late as the 1970s. Doing a search for Adjustable GIllette Safety Razor on ebay may give you some pictorial help. Good luck!
-- Contributed by: Marye Audeti have a gillete razor bronze in colour with numbers round the top 1/9 and the end turns to open top.could i get any info on how old this is.any help would be grate-full
-- Contributed by: R WhittakerLorraine- I don't know much about your razor; see if you can get a book entitled, Standard Guide to Razors, by Roy Ritchie and Ron Stewart. There are several editions and I believe the most current one is the 3rd. You should be able to get it at the library through interlibrary loan.
Now, this is what I do know. Razors were made in Sheffield, England and imported to America until about 1870. After that they began to be machine made, and usually were made in America or Germany. Sheffield still manufactured sheffield silver steel, a very hard, shiny type of steel. Extra hollow ground was the thinnest and finest blade available and was also called a singing blade. Carrara would seem to be the manufacturer of the razor.
The book is your best bet. Good luck!
-- Contributed by: Marye AudetHave come across a The OGEE Razor Sheffield Make Extra Hollow Ground with No 1545x enscrolled on the blade end. It is encased in a The Carrara Razor Box. Any info on age or company. This would be most appreciated Thanks
-- Contributed by: Lorraine AllanHello Joyce - I have not been able to find any information on your razor either. Sheffield did make a Rolls Razor in England in 1927 - I hope that helps.
-- Contributed by: Terry HurleyI came across a Sheffield Elite Rolling razor today in it's case. Made in england. Great shape, but cannot find any info on it. can you help me?
-- Contributed by: joyce jonesHello Ricky - Try visiting What's it Worth to You to find an appraiser who can help you in your area. It is always best to use an appraiser that is accredited. Good luck with your razor.
-- Contributed by: Terry HurleyI noticed as i was reading you said most collectors can not find straight razors used more than 250 years ago. But i have the entire kit straight razor, box, and accesories from the 1600's ( around 400 years old). My family and I are looking to get it appraised and sell it. My grandfather was offered a large sum for it in the 1970's but would not sell. If you could help with suggestion of who to get to apprais it or where to sell it I would appreciate it.
thanks, ricky
-- Contributed by: rickyHello Jan - Unfortunately, I am not able to give appraisals. However, you can try visiting What's it Worth to You and find an appraiser who can help you or contact a local antique dealer or appraiser. Good luck with your razor!
