Chris, your vase would have been created after World War I making it not quite 100 years old. Prior to WWI Czechoslovakia existed as Bohemia and the china and pottery that came from there were marked accordingly. The color is most likely cobalt blue, a very popular color in both Edwardian and Art Deco society. It sounds wonderful. I suggest you take it to a local appraiser for an accurate appraisal.

I have a vase that is at least 100 years old. It is hand blown and on the bottom it says czechoslovakia. It is round and blue. It has two layers with the inside being 4 inches wide and the outside being 8 inches. I have taken it to alot of antique stores but everyone says they have never seen anything like it.

Roy, it sounds wonderful. I would guess that it is redware. There were literally hundreds of potters creating that type of thing through the early part of the 1900s. If you found it locally you should check with your local potter's guild, community college, or even library to see if it was made by a local potter. I can't give you a value but suggest that you take it to a local appraiser. Good luck!

Gloire de Dijon is an heirloom Portland rose bush that was introduced in 1853. The pattern was done by Royal Doulton, possibly others. If it is DOulton then it has auctioned for 150-200 dollars recently. The pattern began production in 1840s..here is a good picture of the pattern altho not the vase...http://cgi.ebay.ie/DOULTON-BURSLEM-Gloire-De-Dijon-Flow-Blue-Bowl-VINTAGE_W0QQitemZ360070618863QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_PotteryPorcelain_Glass_PotteryPorcelain_China_SM?hash=item360070618863&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1294|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318#ebayphotohosting

Hello Peggy - Your vase sounds very beautiful. Try taking it to an antiques dealer to see if they have any information about it for you. You could also try visiting What's it Worth to You to find an appraiser who can help you in your area. It is always best to use an appraiser that is accredited. Ebay is another venue for selling the piece.

We have a vase that is about 20 inches high, 14 inches wide, 4 inch opening, oriental with different sides, three Chinese women on one side with two on the other side, flowers and moons on it with two gold dragons for handles. There is no wording on it "made in China etc". A relative bought it at an antique store and is now wanting to sell.

I'm trying to discover the value of a gift I received about 30 years ago...It is a beautiful 10 -12 in. oriental design vase with a collectors tag stating " The Holland Collection" F240-12-30 Fame-rose Vase Circa 1850 Purchased in Lyon, France. One side has three oriental men speaking to an oriental woman, in what looks like a garden room. The other side has a grey bird and multi colored butterfly facing each other, surrounded by flowers. I believe it must have been part of personal collection befor being purchased in San Fransisco in 1978 as a gift for my graduation. If you have any thoughts or knowlegde about this vase please let me know. Thank You, Rebecka

I have Japanese vase Aprox. 12" tall. The bottom of the vase has markings that has a dimond shape with a line throughthe middle of it. On the top part of the dimond it has a circle with a triangle attached to the botttom of the circle and the bottom half of the dimond has what looks to be a circle or the letter 'C'. On the left outside of the dimond the letter 'I' or 'L' appears. The right outside of the dimond the letter 'E' is shown. At the bottom of the diamond the letters 'G' and 'O' are imprinted. Over the top of the diamond is printed 'JAPAN'. There looks like some scripted writting at the bottom under th 'G' and the 'O', with a wreath of leaves going around the diamond and the lettering mentioned above. At the top of the wreath it looks as if the word 'Hand' in script writing is printed, under the bottom of the wreath is what looks to be the word 'Painted' is scripted.

The vase again, is about 12" in height and has two elongated handels with some gold painted swirls. The top at the opening of the vase, there are gold raised dots(for lack of a better word), all around the top which flares out a bit then painted in red at about 1/2 in with gold paint with gold 'dots painted under the red. Within the gold begins the beautiful pink flowres, (they look to me to be from a dogwood, but I'm not sure). The flowers are pink then outlined in the red and the center of each flower is painted in gold with the gold raised dots on top of that. The flowers are attached to red branches and the trunks all aroung the vase. There are leaved with gold painted veins around the flowers. The trunks end with an all red painted about 1 1/2" with curves attaching the trunk all around the vase. Within the red at the bottom are gold pained leaves and wreaths, along with other very intriquite designs. about 1/4" of white then a thin gold band at the very bottom.

If there is ANYTHING that you can tell me about this very beautiful vase please let me know.

Greetings,

I came across your site and contact information on the web and have an inquiry regarding a unique vintage head vase / bust sculpture. I have done extensive research but so far have found no information about the work or the artist.

I am hoping that with your expertise you might recognize the signature.

I have the head vase currently listed on Ebay and would like to be able to provide more information in the auction if possible. This is a large sized sculpture that weighs about eight pounds. FOR PHOTOS: Ebay ID - sweetcottagecharm. Item number: 310027846042

Thanks very much. Any info you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Andrew, I am not finding any information on this type of vase.

Nina, it is hard to say without being able to see the pitcher. Try contacting a local antiques dealer or auction house. If they don't know the answer they should be able to guide you in the right direction.

I have a lovely vase/pitcher (because it has a handle) green with a bird painted on it. The bottom has a mark that looks like either a V or a W with an S inside of it. The letters underneath are maybe(because not quite clear) CHORE? Been around for quite some time. I really do like to look at it. Quite pretty. Any idea what or where it came from? Thank You Nina Stachewicz
