Alock, Lindley, Bloore Staffordshire was in business form 1919 to 1979. It was taken over by Royal Doulton in 1974. There is no way for me to guess the value or the age of your pot..it would be best for you to take it to a local appraiser. Sounds fantastic! Good luck.

Hi I have a brown betty with Alock, Lindley, Bloore Staffordshire print on the bottom made in (R) England in the inside of the teapot lid. It has a number on 1584 painted on the bottom looks like the same paint used on the flowers. It also has gold trim on the top of teapot and a stroke of gold on the handle, the teapot also has yellow, blue and red flowers that are hand painted. I have tried to research this teapot and have not found much information. Does anyone know the avg selling price for this teapot.

Cindy, I am sorry I can't guess at that. There were a lot of small, local potteries that made the brown betty. I suggest that you take it to a local appraiser or dealer. Good luck!

I have a brown betty styled tea pot...but the spout comes fromthe top down and the only marking on the botton is 21 (has 3 marks from kiln) and the inside of the lid says Made 117 England 175. Can you identify who made this?

Jackie, More than likely the cracks are in the glaze and are somewhat normal. This is called crazing and should not affect the usefulness of the pot. Unless the cracks go all the way through there is not a problem. Hope this helps.

Why do cracks appear on my Brown Betty. It was purchased from a Scottish store and bears the Union Jack Label. Will it eventually fall apart or is it safe to use this way?
